Ash's Death Coaster
It's no secret I have a spot in my heart for the Army of Darkness movie. It's campy fun... skeletons, knights, a castle, and a ridicuoulous car.
And so, when I found a figure of Ash for the Black Plague game, I knew the car would have to be there for him.
First was to find a suitable car to use.
This was a bargain. I picked it up at the Mount Prospect City police auction last spring. It's an old Mount Prospect police car. They were practically giving them away.
It's got a cop motor, a four hundred and forty cubic inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters, so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say?
A couple of fasteners later and it comes apart. Ditch the parts not needed. Have to make room for two crewmembers. Cut some holes for the steam plant.

Then print some parts. New reinforced windshield. Spikes. Lots of them. A cow catcher on the front. The windmill.
Part sizing… check. Details and coloring to come.

And if you don't already have a car lying around, look for a similar style car in 1:43 scale. The best way to get one inexpensively is look for a sale, or a damaged package discount. Amazon warehouse is often a good source, selling returned or damaged items for a few dollars. You're going to hack it up anyway.
The original car was a 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88. Not a popular car for toys. I couldn't find one. What I did find was a Bluesmobile with a crushed box. If you haven't seen the 1980 Blues Brothers movies, give it a shot. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Anyway, here are the details on the toy.
